Why AAP Is Failing the People of Delhi — A Citizen’s View on Governance and Pollution
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), once seen as a symbol of change, has deeply disappointed many citizens, including myself. Their governance model today appears to be focused more on publicity and self-interest than actual welfare work. Sadly, like many political outfits in India, AAP leaders seem more committed to personal gains than to genuine public service.
In my opinion, AAP has become one of the most deceptive political parties in North India. Their promises of transparency and transformation have faded into a series of false narratives and hollow media campaigns. But the Indian public is observant — and they will eventually see through the show.
🌫️ Pollution: A Missed Opportunity
One of the most visible failures has been in tackling Delhi’s air pollution. During the COVID-19 lockdown, pollution levels dropped dramatically. Clear blue skies and starlit nights returned — a natural reminder of what’s possible when strong action is taken.
But since then, things have worsened again. Vehicular emissions remain a major contributor, and public transport still relies heavily on fossil fuels. Instead of action, we see excuses and delays. The government should have pushed for converting buses, autos, and taxis to electric vehicles long ago.
🚫 What AAP Could Have Done (But Didn't)
- Implemented strict pollution control regulations
- Expanded electric public transport across Delhi
- Invested in air purifiers and green zones
- Released transparent data on environment and budget use
Yet, the focus remains on creating optics over outcomes. People are growing tired of slogans without substance.
📢 Conclusion
AAP had a golden chance to lead by example. Instead, it followed the same old political path of short-term gimmicks and questionable spending. I believe that over time, the people of Delhi and India will see the truth — and demand accountability and action, not just words.
